Remembering the Bushfire victims

Today our school children brought in donations to donate to the Victorian Bushfire appeal. It was decided to make a money chain of all the coins collected. The coins covered all the lines on the assembly area concrete. The children learnt that nearly 200 people had lost their lives in the bushfires that are still raging in Victoria, in the East of Australia and over 1000 families have lost their homes and all their belongings. It's the worst fire tragedy in Australian History, and it appears to have been deliberately lit. My heart goes out to all the people and animals who have been affected.

The money chains are a wonderful idea for children. I have been trying to keep aware of the news reports of these tragic and devasting fires...sending prayers to the many effected.

This story gives me people can be so cruel is beyond my thinking. But then there is hope, in the children who are doing what they can to help those families and learn how one person's actions can affect so many people. Maybe it will make them think, when they have hard choices to make. It should make us all think before we do anything. Great photo and thoughts.

What a great idea for the school to do. I bet they collected alot. I also think about my pen pal in Victoria and wonder how she is. I have no way of knowing. Sherri
